Welcome to the Make and Craft Book Blog Tour!

Hello and welcome to my blog!

Welcome to day 4 in the Make and Craft Book Blog Tour and a give away of Noah's Ark: Sewing, Quilting and Applique for You and Your home . Thank you to Amanda Addison for the wonderful blog post yesterday!

Make and Craft magazine is a new magazine released on the 12th October and is a wonderful collection of crafts from sewing to crochet and everything in between! Perfect for a serial crafter like me!

My usual introduction is "Hello my name is Anna and I am a fabric addict!". I have suffered from this addiction for 17 years and I have no plans to find a cure - EVER! I have been a quilter and sewer all of those years. I am totally self taught - I went through school refusing to sew because it was for girls and went to University to study Astrophysics! I discovered patchwork in a Prima Magazine and the structure, shapes and use of colour fascinated me - that one moment started an obsession!

For a day job I teach sewing across Gloucestershire for Adult Education - you can see how I have used my degree! Teaching sewing doesn't really come under the heading of day job, since I adore what I do! In between classes I quilt and sew like a mad thing!

In my spare time I am a lone parent to 3 gorgeous boys and I run 2 Scout groups in my town... My blog is about the adventures I have with my boys, fabrics I obsess about, quilts I make and my adventures teaching!

The book on my day is Noah's Ark: Sewing, Quilting & Applique for You & Your Home by Anne-Pia Godske Rasmussen, which is a good choice for me since I have a Noah who loves sewing!

Noah is 6 and has used my sewing machine to make himself a bag, bunny sleeping bag and patchwork blanket. Together we have been checking out this gorgeous book!

His opinion of the book is: Cool!

The book is packed full of patterns of gorgeous animals for your Ark. Each one has wonderful clothing and will make great presents for Christmas - between us Noah and I have sorted out gifts for all his friends!

There are also patterns for bunny hot water bottles and Herring bags!

Noah and I can't wait to get making from the book!

I have a copy of the book to give away, all you have to do is leave a comment telling me which craft you love and why! I Love hearing about other people's crafts! A winner will be picked at random on Monday October 8th at 8pm.

Good Luck!

If you fancy buying a copy you can at all usual outlets, but why not try giving your local indie bookshop a try?

Plus don't forget to check out tomorrows stop on the Book Blog Tour, Tilly Mint Boutique.

  1. Your enthusiasm is infectious. I am really impressed with your 6yr old although when I come to think about it I have done finger knitting with one of my boys at the same age. I suppose that if you are really passionate about something then it rubs off onto your children. Oh I am passionate about knitting and crocheting. It gives me a reason to sit down whilst still 'doing'. I corners full of my creations - a lot of which is jewellery which I can't work up the courage to sell. I really enjoyed reading your post.

  2. I love both Cross Stitching and Knitting. The former because I love to see a picture come alive on a blank canvas, but I am no good at art! Knitting because I find it can be either relaxing or challenging, depending on the project. There is a time and place for both!

  3. I really enjoyed reading your post. I thought my granddaughter was doing well learning how to use my sewing machine at age 9 but Noah has done even better! I love hearing about children getting involved in making things.

The book looks quite exciting and a bit different to most sewing books. Love the theme.

  4. Such a lovely post and how nice that the book is the same name! :) Perfect match. Lovely to learn about how you discovered craft and great to see your children following in the same crafty footsteps :) Thank you for joining the Make and Craft book club blog tour and looking forward to catching you all the forum too. Cheerio, Katharine (Make and Craft Editor)

  5. I have a Noah too (hes my nephew) He likes to make things, he a little to young to sew, but I shall be working on it when he isn't ;) My go to craft is crochet, i love many may crafts but that one literally changed my life, its the one I go to when everything else fails :)

  6. Hi Anna, What a great blog. It's great to be taking part in this blog tour and reading all these different and great crafting blogs. My favourite craft is crochet. I love how it can be adapted to large and small items, clothes, blankets, toys and it grows really fast and you can pick it up and put it down without dropping stitches!

  7. I love quilling and sewing. Great giveaway choice.

  8. Great blog Anna. I'm a bit like you and love buying fabric. This looks a great book. Not being artistic in the classical sense I always find difficulty in making things look like they are supposed to look. This book would certainly help me turn my crafty animal makes into recognisable shapes!

  9. Hi Anna! Good to met you! I'm in Gloucestershire too!!
This looks an awesome book - I'd love to win a copy

    1. Morning!

      You are the winner!

If you could email me your address I will get the book out to you asap!

  10. Fantastic blog! I dabble in loads of different crafts but I think I always fall back on card making. It's therapeutic to sit surrounded in gorgeous papers and produce something tailored to other people for special occasions.

  11. I love most crafts but I am passionate about fabric and love the colours, patterns and textures. Thanks for the chance to win.

  12. Hi Anna, glad to see you on the Make and Craft blog tour. Love your work, would love to know where you get all your energy from.

  13. I like many crafts involving fabric and beads. Also knitting, but I'm quiet new to that ;). Would love to win!
